Wave forms are small when recording vinyl [CLOSED]

I have Audacity 2.1.2 and Mac OS X 10.9.5.
I am recording 45’s using a USB cord from an Audio Technics AT-LP-120 turntable. The recordings are sounding pretty good, but the wave sizes are considerably smaller than those I get when importing sound files from iTunes. I cannot see how to increase the recording input. Maximum clipping as shown on the input monitor is -12 db. As i intend to be recording from a lot of 45s and 78s, a lerger size would seem desirable in order to edit scratches etc …
Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Bob

When recording from a USB-audio device on Mac you cannot control the input (recording) level. Recordings at -12dB are not a problem. Simply select the entire track and do Effect > Amplify.

Thanks Bill. Good to know I don’t have to spend time looking for a nonexistent solution!
