WAV files are not visible after exporting

After exporting a WAV file, it doesn’t show up in Explorer or Adobe Premiere when I try to open it. There was no error message when exporting. Audacity cant even see it when I try to import it.
Was working fine a couple weeks ago.

I even uninstalled and reinstalled Audacity, but still same issue.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Forgot to mention I’m using Windows 8.
Version 2.06.
Used the .exe installer

If that is not a typo for 2.0.6, uninstall that unofficial Audacity and install Audacity 2.0.6 from us here: Audacity ® | Download for Windows. Half way through the installer, put a checkmark (tick) in the box “Reset Preferences”.

If you already have 2.0.6 but did not enable “Reset Preferences” when you reinstalled, reinstall Audacity with that box enabled.

From your description, you may have put one or more periods (dots) in the file name when you exported. That will make Windows think the file type is whatever letters were after the final period. Please see Audacity Manual for more information.

If that is the problem, then when you import the file using Audacity, change the “Files of type:” box to “All files”. Click on the file you want to import, press F2 on your computer keyboard then add

.wav

to the end of the file name.
