WAV file export issue - newbie

Hi,

I’ve been trying to record a short piano piece for an exam using a mic input. The recording seems to work fine, as does the noise reduction to remove background hiss, but when I try to export the recording to a WAV format to burn it to audio CD, the file is silent. I’m using 2.0.5 on windows 7. I have also tried this on a vista laptop with the same results.

what am I doing wrong?

Import the exported WAV back into Audacity. If it’s silent that’s what you need to correct - for example make sure the -…+ gain slider on the Track Control Panel is centred.

If the problem occurs in the CD player, are you sure it is working correctly?
