WAV extension not saving when exported from 2.0.5

I am facing an issue with my audio files bot saving correctly once I export them from audacity 2.0.5.

I select export and when the save box opens for me to choose the “save as type” I select WAV and click say.

The issue arises once I go into the folder on my computer where it is saved and the file icon looks like a blank page while the original audio icon file shows a music note symbol. And when I attempt to open the file it says it cannot locate it or to search for a program to open the file. I am unable to transfer it to disc/cd.

Any assistance to get the file to save properly would be greatly appreciated.

Don’t put periods (dots) in the file name you are exporting to, unless you add the period (dot) and WAV extension yourself at the end of the file name.

Make Windows show extensions for known file types so you can see what the extension is.
