Here is what my toolbars look like after Tools > Reset Configuration or View > Toolbars > Reset Toolbars:
This takes up less space, is obvious, and would be preferred:
Note four rows of tools vs. three. I would think three would generally be preferable.
Is this really a problem? Once you arrange the toolbars the way you like, does Audacity not remember the layout?
There is possibly a âbugâ here in that the Device toolbar does not automatically append to the end of the Play at Speed toolbar when there is room to do so. My guess is that this may be because the text within the Device toolbar is longer than the text boxes, and interferes with the âFit()â calculations. Is that something that you could fix?
I have not yet looked at it - but yes - that is my intention if it is given a number - that makes it easier to track and to justify.
Of course, there are other things I am looking at, and its probably just me but I hate to work on new projects while prior projects are waiting to be reviewed.
Iâll make you a deal have a look at it, and if you think you can fix it, Iâll log it as a âP5 Enhâ and allocate it to you. Does that sound reasonable?
I have a thread archived here on the forum somewhere about enhancing the toolbars. Hereâs what my entire window looks like (shrunk down to one third size):
here is something similar (not shrunk down but compressed by snipping out large vertical sections):
3 enhancements are visible: individual toolbar drag bars are a couple of pixels wider and painted with a green background; individual toolbars which have sizers have their sizers a couple of pixels wider and painted with a red background; sliders which are inactive (not enabled) have their thumb changed so itâs obvious. Hereâs a better look details:
The code (Audacity 2.0.6-based) is probably still archived here on the forum but, if not, and anyone is interested, just ask.
