WASAPI level is maxing, even when internal software is low

So two questions, actually:

  1. Even when I turn down the app volume down, when I record on WASAPI/Speakers, the sound clips, even if it clips at a lower level… you can see it flattening out. Sound is not good!

Please - how do I fix that, … and

  1. Why can’t we go back to being able to adjust the WASAPI level? Proprietary thing?

Are you recording streaming audio with “loopback”? If not, what are you recording?

Usually, lowering the playback volume lowers the loopback recording volume. But if it’s clipping, the streaming audio coming-in is probably already clipped and you can’t fix that.

…If you are not recording streaming audio, you probably don’t need loopback.
