I got everything, including the Export macro working, too. I really appreciate your patience. Thank you.
I only have one last nagging question.
I see that even though I used the Fade Ends macro, I see that I still have to line up the songs. Does that sound right? If so, that is going to be very tedious lining up many songs, far more than just 2 or 3. I would have thought that using a macro to fade would eliminate the need to line up the songs as long as I have loaded them into Audacity. If I am missing something, please let me know. This would be my last concern before signing off.
THANKS! That was brilliant! Yes, they aligned end to end perfectly! But one nagging question. That gave me the songs without the crossfade because it did as expected with each subsequent song starting AFTER the previous one. Do I have to still overlap adjacent songs manually before applying Fade Ends?
Yes. To automatically position these songs for a cross-fade is going to be tricky and will not work efficiently in Audacity without using a 3rd party tool such as Python. If this were my project, I would search the internet for a jukebox player with a built-in cross-fade - it might even be able to select your songs randomly.
Thank you. I don’t hold out much hope after all the searching I have already done. In fact, I think the auto align function in Audacity has give me hope because I really like Audacity, considering all the things it can do. To manually align them may not be as much of a stretch - I shouldn’t be that lazy. Thank you for taking the time to help me out.
Foobar2000 is an excellent, lightweight audio player (free) and can do crossfades. The crossfade plugin is included by default, but needs to be enabled in the “playback > dsp” preferences.
Foobar2000 also has a support forum if you need help with it.
Thank you, Steve. I had tried Foobar in the past, but was not happy with it. I am sticking with Audacity whose features I really like. I appreciate everybody’s help.
Your question seems to be an XY Problem.
What is the actual thing that you are trying to accomplish? For example, is it that you want to play continuous music, without gaps between songs for a party / background music? Or is it that you want to learn how to use macros? Or is it something else?
