I have been recording using a cheap Logitech headset. Worked well. I have bought a Samson COIU podcasting mic. I can get volume when I record in Capitivate but I can’t get any volume in Audacity? I have everything turned up to the max. It recognizes the mic as working in Perferences. I can get barely a blip in Audacity?

Also experiencing the low humm, I’ll try going on battery only to see if that help. thanks for that post…

Make sure that you have the correct (USB) recording input selected in “Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O”
Also if you are using Audacity 1.2.x, try upgrading to 1.3.5 (USB microphones did not exist when Audacity 1.2.6 was written).

Thanks Steve, It did fix itself somehow??? I’ll follow your upgrade advice however…
