Voice Fine Instrumental Track Stutters

As a semi-novice I’m not sure what I have done. This is Win10/64 with Creative card set to “What you hear.” I’m sure there’s an easy answer, but it’s bumfuzzling the likes of me. Any thoughts appreciated.

Please explain in more detail what you are trying to achieve. “What U hear” is for recording computer playback. What is a “voice fine instrumental track”?

An alternative to recording computer playback using What U hear is WASAPI loopback recording. See http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tutorial_recording_computer_playback_on_windows.html#wasapi.

What I mean is the voice sounds normal, but I am hearing repeat licks in the instrumental section…in other words notes or licks of the same instruments on top of one another. Thanks.

But where is this audio coming from and what are you trying to do? Are you trying to record your voice over a backing track that is playing in your computer? If so, import the backing track into Audacity, ensure Transport > Overdub is on, then choose your mic as the recording device, not what U hear.

If you are simply trying to re-record an already recorded voice with instrumental track playing on the web, use Windows WASAPI loopback. Click this link: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tutorial_recording_computer_playback_on_windows.html#wasapi. Or you may be able to download the song if it is on a popular site like YouTube, which would give you as good a quality as you hear online. Use your favourite search engine to learn how to do that. Also do this if you are recording your voice and the instrumental you want to record against is online.
