Vocals too faint

I have a recording of a funeral service but the vocals are too faint

Any suggestions to improve the clarity

I have Audacity 2.1

There’s not a whole lot you can do. :frowning: A typed transcript would help if you can understand what’s being said by listening carefully. And if there is video you can add subtitles.

You can use the Amplify effect but the quality is still bad.

There is room reverb echo and that can’t be removed.

It also sounds like low-quality MP3 (or something) affecting the quality. That also can’t be fixed.

In your sample, there is a click near the end that’s limiting how loud it can be amplified (without clipping) and there may be other (maybe worse) noises elsewhere in the fine.

The Limiter effect can knock-down those noise peaks, allowing for boosting the overall volume.
