Very urgent remote help needed on AUP project file error

Hello,

I was using my an older version of Audacity to make a mp3 song compilation for my friend’s birthday. And he lives far away so as I’m taking the plane in 3 hours, I won’t be able to finish the project from my computer. As this error started happening, I tried to fix it by downloading the notepad++ to fix it myself, but these things are way too complicated for me. So now I’m left with a project file that gives me errors after errors.
First error was: ‘‘reference to invalid character number at line 5’’
I solved that one but now there is a new error and I don’t know what to do for this one, which is: ‘‘not well formed (invalid token) at line 6’’

I need urgent help because I need to finish the project and export it. I appreciate the time and effort of anyone who can help me.

Have a nice day.

No one to help me? It’s been two days… I’ve seen other similar entries had answers on the same day. :frowning:

Hi Ozzy,

I was going to reply but I thought it was too late because of the deadlines you mentioned in your post. Where are you getting the errors about invalid characters and why do you need Notepad++? Which old version were you using? How are you trying to put the compilation together - ripped CD tracks, downloads from internet, recording from a stream playing on the computer etc?
Do you have an Audacity project file you can share? Maybe I could look at that.

Hey Mark B ! Thank you for reaching out.

So my friend’s birthday is in a couple of days so I have time, its just that I had to put the program files on my flashdisk to be able to work on this issue abroad away from my main computer which has windows 7.
I don’t remember which version I had but it was older. I had a problem on the 5th line first then I had another problem which I couldn’t figure it out on the 6th which was about line being not well formed. I can’t find the page on this forum about sharing AUP files to people by messages but if you could show me the way, I can get my hands on a computer and send them to you. I also wonder if I can send these files from a Mac instead of windows which they were initially created on.

Thank you for your attention and time.

I was just putting together mp3 rips on audacity to line them up and get them ready to burn on a cassette using my cassette deck, which I did it before and it worked. I had songs and another day I just added another recording of a meme into it just to fill up some empty seconds but that last mp3 made my whole project crash I think because the problem started afterwards.

I read on the forum and saw some videos that talked about using that program (Notepad++ it was i guess) to find the problems and fix it.
