Very low voice when transcribing vinyl records

Hello. I am using Audacity to digitize my old vinyl records. On some vocal pieces, I notice that in the transcription that Audacity does, the voice of the songs is very weak compared to the instruments. The disc has no problem. The turntable either. How can I correct this? Thank you in advance for your help.

There’s probably a fault in the way that the turntable is connected to the computer, causing the left and right channels to be out of phase.
How is the turntable connected to the computer?

The turntable is USB connected to the PC.

The disc has no problem. The turntable either.

Does that mean it sounds OK when you play through your stereo (without the computer)?

When you listen on your stereo are the vocals mostly on the left or right or in the “center”?

When you listen through the stereo are you loosing the stereo effect with the same sound coming from the left & right?

The sound is ok through stereo device, and the vocals are on the right.
The stereo effect does not seem to be affected when the same sound comes from the left and the right.

The sound is ok through stereo device, and the vocals are on the right.

Windows may be configured for mono so it’s only sending the left-signal to Audacity. I assume you’ve configured Audacity for stereo and you’re getting two identical waveforms (left on the top and right on the bottom)?

There is some information about configuring Windows for stereo here.

P.S.

and the vocals are on the right.

Hang on to that record for future testing & troubleshooting,

It works ! The input of the turntable was configured in mono by Windows, I corrected it and it is ok now. Sorry I should have seen that! But this is the first time I have used Audacity and this turntable. Thank you very much.

. Sorry I should have seen that!

Don’t feel bad… There are a LOT of settings to mess-with and mess-up! If someone else hadn’t had the same problem and someone else found the problem, I wouldn’t know how to fix it.
