The track spectrogram view uses a mathematical analysis technique called “FFT” (Fast Fourier Transformation). FFT analyzes the audio in blocks called “windows”, which are specially shaped to provide a gradual fade-in and fade-out to each block, to create an approximation of the continuous audio frequency content. At a clip boundary, the “window” will be incomplete - the first window in the clip starts suddenly, and the final window ends suddenly, which causes a glitch in the FFT data. That glitch appears in the track spectrogram view as a vertical line. In short, if you don’t hear a click at the start of a clip, then it is just a visual artefact.
Unfortunately there is no way round this, other than by missing out the first and final partial windows, but that would also give incomplete data to the first and final full windows as the windows overlap by half a block length.
The glitches will not appear if clip boundaries are during silences, because in this case the partial windows are empty (silent).
thanks a lot for this prompt and complete infos .
