I’ve downloaded (.exe) the latest version of audacity. My operating system is Windows 10 64bit. I downloaded some plug-ins from http://www.vamp-plugins.org/. The new plug-ins in the plug in list shows as .dll files. I deleted pluginregistry.cfg and it did not help. Enabled plug-is come back as new. I did open the pluginregistry.cfg file and it appears that there is bunch of information missing. I’m guessing .dll files doesn’t have all the plug-in definition information. The other files in the downloaded plug-in zip file are .cat and .n3. Should these files be the ones in the list? I’ve noticed that build in plug-in files have .ny extension.
I started a new topic for you with a relevant title. The topic you posted in was about the release candidate (preview) builds of Audacity 2.1.2.
Please give us all three numbers of your Audacity version as stated in Help > About Audacity… . That is the only way we know exactly which version you have.
Yes, as it says on http://www.vamp-plugins.org/download.html#install you need to copy any category and description files as well as the library file (DLL for Windows).
If you need more help please say which plugins are the problem. Plugins that produce graphs or other visuals won’t work in Audacity, only plugins that are suitable for writing to labels.

My Audacity version is 2.1.2. In the build section it states that this is “Release build” and was build on Jan 9 2016.
The plugins I’m having problems with are:
BeatRoot Vamp Plugin
Queen Mary plugin set
There appears to be a bug with the latest version of the Queen Mary plugin set (it’s listed in the Audacity 2.1.2 Release Notes: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Release_Notes_2.1.2#Effects_.28VAMP.29)
See the above link for a version that works in Audacity.
I don’t know about the BeatRoot plug-in.
That one works for me on Windows 10.

I’m running windows 10 64bit. Not sure if it matters. I don’t get that far. I can’t get past registration. I did use the trick to delete pluginregistry.cfg, but it didn’t do the trick. If I open the file for the plug-ins that I try to register I see this.

As it says on http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/analyze_menu.html#vamp
Currently Audacity cannot load Vamp plug-ins from the Audacity “Plug-Ins” folder
Try putting the CAT, DLL and N3 files in “C:\Program Files (x86)\Vamp Plugins” (you will have to create that “Vamp Plugins” folder yourself so you will need Administrator permissions to do that).
Unfortunately the Manual is incorrect in stating “C:\Program Files (x86)\Vamp Plug-ins” with the hyphen. That will give you the same issue you have now, where the plugins will go back to “New” after enabling them.
I have corrected that problem in the Manual, so that correction will appear in the Manual for Audacity 2.1.3 when that is released.

Worked like a charm. Thank you guys.
