Using inversion to remove music, music is quieter but not gone.

Total novice here. I got a short video with surround sound and a clip of a song in it. My intent is to remove the song entirely.

I have successfully inverted the song channels. This significantly muffled the song sound and made the other noise in the video more clear. However, the song is still playing, quieter but very audible. How do I fully mute it?

This almost never works perfectly. :frowning: You can sometimes perfectly-remove vocals from a stereo recording if they are identical and in-phase in the left & right channels, but everything in the center gets removed so you never get “professional” results.

There is something new called Spleeter that you can try.
