USB Audio Codec not working in Big Sur

Have MacBook Air running Big Slur and Audacity 3.4.2 which is working fine. I have been trying to record my Mandolin via a Behringer UM2 interface. The UM2 is working fine as shown in the System Preferences/Sound/inputs. In audacity I have selected USB Audio Codec in the Audio Set up and everything shows up fine in Audio setup Toolbar but it does not record. any ideas

i have just downloaded and tried Adour 8 and it works fine with my rig set up can only think Audacity is not recognising the USB Audio codec on my machine???
