Updating problem

I currently have v. 2.4.2 but have not recorded since about 2020. I’m running Win 10 on a PC with 16Gb RAM.
I’m trying to upgrade to latest version (3.3.3 perhaps?) and have made multiple upgrade attempts that seem to succeed but actually don’t — I still have v. 2.4.2 when I check. If possible, I would also like to upgrade in a way to preserve my previous settings.

I would like to convert some LPs to CD. That worked well when I last used Audacity. Another aim is to record from YouTube and convert to WAVs to then burn to CDs.

I’d appreciate advice to help me figure out what I’m doing wrong. I have not tried to uninstall the older version, assuming that the upgrade process would revise it as needed. Please help.

I’m just going to guess that both are installed… A new 64-bit version and the old 32-bit version.

The 64-bit version should be C:\Program Files\Audacity\Audacity.exe and you probably just need a shortcut to that one.

The 32-bit version would be in C:\Program Files (x86)\Audacity.

Wow! That was fast. I checked, and you’re right, the new version is there. I have unpinned the old version and pinned the new one to my taskbar.
