# Updated De-Clicker and new De-esser for speech

Behold … the Desibilator, (attached).

This ‘desibilator’ plugin is [Paul Licameli’s ‘DeEsser.NY’](https://forum.audacityteam.org/t/updated-de-clicker-and-new-de-esser-for-speech/34283/1) just with different default-settings, different slider-ranges, & has tips added to the UI.

Previously the default frequency-range was not wide enough: it stopped at 8kHz, (now 13kHz).  
Previously the “number of bands” slider went up to 1000 😮 , when \<5 bands is generally sufficient, and \>50 will freeze/crash Audcaity.

So this variant of Paul-L’s de-esser plugin is more likely to give first-time-users what they want, quickly, without crashing Audacity.
