Good day. I am running Audacity 3.2.2 on Windows 10 Home. The last time I did an update all of my shortcuts disappeared. Every time I login, I get a message to do another update. How can I do the update and still keep my shortcuts? Thank you for any help.
Good Question.
I just uninstalled my 3.2.4, then did a fresh install of 3.2.2 using the 64-bit Windows installer from Old Audacity versions download
Under Edit > Preferences > Keyboard > Tree, I set Ctrl+S to “Save Project As” (was “Save Project”) (and click OK) to verify re-assigning it.
I then closed Audacity 3.2.2, and without uninstalling it, I downloaded and installed Audacity 3.2.4 from: Audacity ® | Download for Windows.
During the install, I left the “Reset Preferences” option blank.
I then started Audacity 3.2.4, and verified that my custom Ctrl+S shortcut had been preserved.
So let me suggest NOT checking Reset Preferences when given that option. (Note: I later tried checking this option, and Resetting Preferences will, in fact, reset i.e., remove, your custom keyboard selections).
Let me suggest Exporting your shortcuts prior to your update. Then should you encounter any difficulties, you should be able to recover them via Import.
Good day Jademan and thank you for the response. When I did the last update, I was not certain of what that choice meant, therefore< I selected i. This time I will try it without selecting the option to preserve. Thank you for being the only one to respond out of more than 90 readers.
