Hello All Audacity Folks, I thought I knew my way around PCs, having struggled with MS OS since MS-DOS. Loved XP, never crashed once. I am using the Win 7 64 bit Home Premium OS. I have read the FAQ. I can not, for the life of me, unzip and be able to access the full Help manual on my sled. Given the use my PC gets, as hard as this may be to believe, I have never had to download and unzip a file. I tried it 4 times using the “7Zip” app you suggested. It is extremely confusing----- It seems like I just keep going in a circle. When I right click on the the one file (manual?) and right click and to find "Extract To,that is where things go awry. There is no "Extract To… option. I used to be able to fix my own PC issues, by using Ed Bott’s excellent Bible sized help books. As stated, I have resolved IRC conflicts, changed configurations on hardware, etc in every MS OS until now. I am just plain stuck. My browser is the latest version of Firefox. Can someone simplify the process? (BTW, I do have the fullest level of Administrator capabilities available, and have no hidden files) Thanks For Any Help, JM
Z-Zip has an explicit “Extract Here” option if you right-click over the downloaded zip file, but if you don’t want to use an unzip tool, you don’t have to.
Instead, install Audacity using http://audacity.googlecode.com/files/audacity-win-2.0.5.exe . See here for how to install: Audacity Manual . If you install Audacity, the Manual is already installed along with Audacity. Just click Help > Manual (in web browser).
If you already have the zip of Audacity 2.0.5 but don’t want to install it, then you can read the Manual online by clicking this link: Audacity Manual .

Gale, Thank you for the thoughtful reply. Somehow, I got it arranged so when I right click on the icon on my Desktop, one of the options is “Open in Web Browser.” I select this and can read the entire manual on Firefox. By keeping it minimized when not in use, it serves the purpose. Thank you again for taking the time to help. JM
