untuned record

Hi to everybody
maybe this issue was already disccused .
I checked the first 3 pages of the research without answers.
I on windows 10
I connect my bass to the pc by a line6 external audio device.
I put an mp3 as track in audacity, then I play on it recording. Everithing goes fine but when I hear the resulting recording, my bass line is untuned . Performing the tune correction in audacity I have the good tone only correcting 1.5 tone. Also the quality of the sound is quite bad. It is a very fat and unprecise sound.
Do you have some tips?
Thanks

1.5 semitones? That’s about the difference between 44.1kHz and 48kHz so try changing the sample rate (lower left of the Audacity window).

Mixing & matching sample rates isn’t supposed to cause a problem, but maybe there’s something screwy with your drivers.

If your line-6 interface works “both ways”, try using it exclusively for recording, playback, and monitoring (don’t use your soundcard).

Also the quality of the sound is quite bad. It is a very fat and unprecise sound.

Maybe you’re not used to hearing your bass through the computer speakers (or headphones, etc.). Or, your line-6 interface may have some built-in effects that are altering the sound.

If you are mixing with the MP3, note that mixing is done by summation so there’s a good chance of clipping (distortion). Probably, the easiest way to deal with that is to export to floating-point WAV (floating point has virtually no upper or lower limits so it won’t clip). Then re-import and Normalize or Amplify to bring down the levels, and then export again to your desired final-format.

thank you for the fast answer i will check all these thinghs

Actually I saw that the mp3 i was playing in background was at 48kHz while my track was at 44.1. However if i record on a track at 48kHz whe I go to hear the soud of my recording is shift compared the mp3. So the best way is to correct os 1.5 semitone after the recording

I have another issue. While I am playing the audio is good but when I hear the recording there is a sort of random scretch like the one produced by vinyls. I suppose that there is some kind of not good compatibility with my sound card that now is dated ( at least 10 years) what do you thingk about?

Hi I am writing to post how I resolved the issue.
It is very strange but it works
Simply setting the audio output on the laptop speakers instead of the line 6 external audio device I get rid of all the issues
The record of my guitar is tuned and there are no scratchy noises anymore
I do not have a rational explanation but it works…however it is uncomfortable to use because the audio of the guitar still is on the external card thus in the headphone while the audio of the the base track is on the laptop speakers
