so im laying down a track and go to lay the next and the previous track has been pitched sharp almost a 1/2 step… im runing xp pro, downloaded from cnet. i have clean signals… no source proplems… and suggestions?
This can happen when you record on one device (say a USB mic, or external USB interface) and play-back on a different device (say, your built-in soundcard/soundchip). It can also happen when people are collaborating and recording on different systems.
It happens because one of the devices has a clock (oscillator) that’s off, so for example, 44.1kHz is not exactly 44.1kHz. It’s exactly the same as when the speed of an analog tape recorder is off… If you record and play-back on the same system, you’ll never notice, but if you play back on different system the problem will show-up.
