Hi,
I have Windows 8.1 with Audacity 2.0.5.
I have gone through the FAQ and the material in: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_recording_computer_playback_on_windows.html, but I have not been able to get this working.
I have two different headsets and both of them have the same problem. One headset is Microsoft Lifechat LX-3000 and the other is no-name brand, and I have this problem with both. The problem is that Audacity records my microphone sound, but not the speaker sound. I have ensured that I have selected the headset earphone from the device bar for both speakers and microphone. I have also set this as the default in the Control Panel for Sound in Windows. I have set the Audacity preferences as per the FAQ, and in preferences, I have tried everything from 0 db to -60 db for the sound activation level. When I record, I do see the speaker meter showing the sound that is coming through the headphones. But the audio track is flat when recording. The microphone aspects of it works very well. It shows activity on both the meter and the audio track, but the speaker sound is not getting recorded. I have fiddled with everything including (mono/stereo, different devices, MME/Windows Direct Sound/WASAPI) etc.
this is driving me crazy. Can somebody help?
Thanks
