Unable to Record Properly

Hello Guys I’m new in audacity and i am facing certain issue i hope i will get solution here so here it is:
I want to record vocal along with music like karaoke

1.When ever i start recording after adding instrumental track the record start from random position in instrumental track . and some time it start from the start point

  1. Most of the time the curser get paused in the middle of track any random position i don’t know what is going on


    Can someone please help me out?

Audacity can do that if it loses contact with the microphone. Is it a USB microphone? Can you try a different USB connection? Shut down the machine, move the microphone and start it up again. You may have to send Audacity looking for the microphone again.
