OS = Linux Ubuntu Audacity version 3.1.3
I have some Creative Pebble V3 speakers, connected via the USB port on the front of my desktop PC. They work fine with other applications, but Audacity can’t see them. The dropdown to select playback devices lists HDA Intel PCH: HDMI 1 through 4 plus hdmi, nothing else, even after an audio devices rescan.
However, I have found a workaround.
If I connect a headset via another USB port and rescan, some more options appear, and if I select ‘default’ the sound plays through the Creative Pebble speakers. So it looks like Audacity isn’t looking for any new device drivers if the output is only Creative Pebble, but it will look for and find the appropriate drivers if prompted to do so by another sound device. But I have to leave the headset connected and switched on, even though the playback isn’t coming via them, or the Pebble speakers stop working!
This only happens with Audacity. VLC Media Player, Rhytmbox, Kdenlive etc. all work fine.
