Unable to create separate tracks via turntable USB

Currently using Audacity version 2.3.0 on mac OS Sierra 10.12.6 using Safari 12.0.3. Have been using a turntable with USB connection to my MAC. Have been creating an Audacity file composed of my old 45 rpm records which I then export as a WAV file and then use iTunes to burn as an audio CD.

The problem is I am unable to create each 45 rpm record as a separate track, instead all the individual songs (one song per 45rpm record) are coming out as one long track. This means once I burn the CD I cannot use my car cd controls to skip forward and backward between songs since they are all recorded as one large track.

According to the manual by holding down on the ‘shift’ button and then clicking ‘record’ this will cause Audacity to record the next 45rpm record as a new track. This appears to work however once I convert all the recordings (25 songs) to a wav file and then burn a cd my car cd player (Subaru 2015 Forester) still doesn’t recognize each song as a separate track and thus I unable to skip around on the CD.

I’m obviously doing something wrong but I don’t know what it is. Any help would be appreciated.

See if this tutorial in the manual is any help.
