I’m on a brand new macbook pro, downloaded the dmg for 2.0.3 and installed lame with brew. I’m unable to export to mp3 when I specify the location of the mp3 encoding library, which is given to me with brew list lame to see the files that lame installs when it is installed. These files are world readable, no root access required. I am not going to go out and install lame in a special way just to make audacity work. In fact, your instructions should probably change to be “install lame via port install lame or brew install lame” and the same for ffmpeg.
A second issue is the inability to select multiple tracks and join them all together (concatenate). I’ve seen other posts in this forum asking about that, from 5 years ago, and you guys really need to get on that instead of asking why someone would want to. It’s a trivial thing to do and a common thing to want to do and there are no good freeware applications that will do it for mac so by implementing it you can up your product’s attractiveness. It should be as easy as multi-select and cmd-shift-J.
Cuz then people would be all like, instead of like
I think that it is more important to provide instructions that work. User can choose whether to follow the instructions or go their own way.
Please feel free to submit a patch and if it works I will be delighted to put it forward for inclusion in the next release of Audacity.
I fully agree that it would be a useful feature. I doubt that is trivial to implement but would be very happy to be proved wrong about that.
