Unable to achieve export to MP3

I am able to save to a aup file and able to export to MP3. But when I try to play the MP3 file, there is no audio. I am using the latest release of Audacity (Windows 2.3.1) and the latest release of lame (3.99.3). i am using Windows 10, 64-bit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Is the show stereo (two blue waves) and is the MP3 mono (one blue wave).

What is the show and how did you record it?

In the MP3 export dialog, there is a new selector “[_] force stereo to mono.” Do you have that ticked?
As test only, Select the whole track by clicking just right of the up arrow > Tracks > Mix > Mix Stereo down to mono. Did the show vanish?

Edit > UNDO.

Hi Koz,

Thank you for your inputs. The recording is a 1-hour presentation. I used a Dansrue cassette tape capture unit, which recommends Audacity and lame.

The recording was made in stereo. I attempted to export using the “force stereo to mono” but that did not work. I continue to get silence when attempting to play the exported file using Windows Media.

I was unable to find the “select whole” button for the test only altenative.

I am using a 64 bit machine, so today downloaded the lame 3.100 version and installed with audacity. But no change.

Thanks,
