UCA202 external usb sound card line inputs not recognised

Hi

Just purchased a behringer UCA 202 usb external sound card to record streaming sound from my computer using audacity
I am running audacity version 2.0.3 with Windows 7 obtained from the .exe installer.
The only recording input my computer (sound Control panel) and audacity recognises from the sound card after connecting the usb and line input leads to my computer headphone socket is microphone, ie the line inputs are not shown
Can you help?

many thanks

Mick Pope

If the UCA 202 is recognised by the computer it should show with “USB” somewhere in the name of the device. Close Audacity and read the green panel “Detecting USB and Firewire devices” on http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#flatline .

Hi Gale

Many thanks for that
Ive checked that info but it doesn’t really correct my problem…
All devices are shown and enabled in recording sound properties (ticked) but, when connected, other than microphone USB Audio codec, theres no other inputs (line in/stereo mix) detected/available from the usb card
My computer is a Lenovo G550 laptop with Windows 7

Any help much appreciated

What are you trying to connect to what?

I assumed your intention would be to connect a 1/8 inch to RCA cable between audio out of the laptop and the Behringer. That is, connect the 1/8 inch end to the audio out and the RCA red and white ends to the Behringer. Then set the Audacity input device to the Behinger USB AUDIO codec and record from it while playing whatever you want to record.

You can listen to what you are recording by plugging your headphones into the Behringer.

I don’t have the Behringer but I would not expect it to have any separately listed input devices and definitely not “stereo mix”. It is a recording interface that records whatever input you connect to it, and nothing more, so its only input device should be USB Audio CODEC.
