Troubles with Audacity 2.4.2 and Loudmax Plug-in

I’ve just downloaded the latest version of Audacity as I had to upgrade my OS to Catalina. I also downloaded the Loudmax plug-in, placed it in the plug-in folder but when I click to use it instead of the usual Loudmax interface a white box appears. Does anyone know how I can solve this problem or if there is an alternative maximiser which will work with Audacity?

Plugins that do things sometimes work with Audacity. Plugins that have graphics or display management fail. Audacity can’t deal with that.

if there is an alternative maximiser

Since you have a good idea what your goals are, this is between you and Google.

LoudMax is just a (brickwall?) limiter with make-up gain.
Audacity has one of those built-in …

(Use the “hard” rather than “soft” settings).

If you must have a plugin for maximum-loudness, try “OTT

It’s a multi-band compressor with high compression-ratios.
(Apparently it’s available for Macs)

OTT followed by a limiter is the ultimate combination for loudness.
