I am trying to record a second track, but as soon as the first track starts playing, it overrides what I am singing on the 2nd track. I am running Win7 and Audacity 2.0.3 and using a non-USB headset. Is the problem my headset or a software setting?
Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Recording > [_] Playthrough (Deselect).
Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Devices > Recording. Pick your microphone or mixer – a real physical thing, and not Stereo-Mix or one of the fake devices that Windows provides to record everything on the computer.

I tried those settings but I can still only hear the first track that I recorded. I ordered a USB headset and hopefully that will solve the problem.
For whatever reason, the new USB headset/mic is working with the suggested settings. Is there a link or tutorial specifically for vocal overdubbing (4-part harmony)? There are a lot of other settings involved that affect the quality of the recording and it is a bit overwhelming. Thanks!
