Trouble Importing AUP file

Hello,

When I try opening my Audacity project, it says “Error Importing: ___ is an Audacity Project file. Use File > Open command to open Audacity Projects”. I still have all of the files in the data folder and if I play them individually, they are still there. I am not sure how to fix this. Thanks!

Better way to explain, i still have all of my .au files but idk how to piece them back together

What version of Audacity are you using? See the pink panel at the top of the page.

Make sure you are using File > Open… to open the AUP file.

If you already are using File > Open… please open the AUP file in Notepad (but do not edit the file). Is the AUP file empty? That can happen if you shut the computer down before the project has finished saving. When you save the project, don’t move the mouse and wait until you see Audacity say that the file saved OK in the Status Bar bottom left of Audacity.

If the AUP is empty, and only if your project was an unedited recording, you can recover the audio (with some limitations). See http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/recovering_crashes_manually.html.

If the AUP file is not empty, please attach it and we can look at it. Please see here for how to attach files: https://forum.audacityteam.org/t/how-to-attach-files-to-forum-posts/24026/1
