I’m very new to Audacity and audio editing/recording in general. My goal is to take my albums and burn them to a CD. Is it just as simple as recording the album in Audacity and then burning a CD? I also want the ‘next track’ button on the CD player to advance to the beginning of the next song. Do I have to do something to mark the start of each song?

Audacity doesn’t burn anything. You’ll need a Audio CD Authoring Program to manage the music, the order, and the spaces between songs. Windows Media and iTunes will both do that.
