Tracks suddenly won't play through interface

Using:
OS-Windows 11
Audacity- 3.71
Interface 1-Behringer U-phoria UM2
Interface 2-Behringer U-phoria UMC22

Hi. I can’t seem to find a post that addresses my specific issue so I’m hoping this makes sense. I’ll be as detailed as possible.
Like the title says, my audio tracks won’t play all of a sudden. I’ve been using the same equipment, devices, settings and process for recording and playback for several years. (the only adjustments would have been any settings that changed with updates)

A day ago while I was recording dialogue, i clicked the space bar to listen to a section and the green playhead just stayed in place. It gave the impression that it wanted to move forward but was being held back, with subtle tiny, blinky movements. It seemed so trivial, I was sure I’d figure it out w/in a few mins. I tried changing the Audio Host from MME to Windows WASAPI to DirectSound. No change. I tried changing the output sound device to see if it would play through anything. The only combination that played was REALTEK (R) A played with MME setting. But that
just played through my laptop speakers. I tried every other setting combination and nothing was making a difference.
The only time I’ve experienced the playhead being stuck is when I’ve had more than one Audacity window up and one session was paused in the middle of recording.
So at this point I’ve exhausted every troubleshooting option I could find. Checked my laptop sound settings, Microsoft input/output, checked for driver updates, checked USB connections.
I’m baffled. I can record just fine with all of the settings in their usual position, but if I stop and try to play… it won’t.
I feel like it’s got to be something I’m overlooking or I’m forgetting something simple.
I’ll upload some screenshots if it helps.
