i record a single audio take on the first recording, 6 seconds long. then record another audio take for the same time. and it seems that it overdubs… i would rather not overdub and record individual samples… i thought that my next record take started on the track under at the end of the first take. so i need help with that… and can i move a take from the audio take that records beneath the previous take to the upper track somehow?
i thought that my next record take started on the track under at the end of the first take.
No. If all you do is press stop and then record, you will get a whole new track starting from time zero.
You then use the Solo and Mute buttons to only listen to one at a time. If your second track has both voices on it, then you’re set to record from the wrong device. Using the Device Toolbar, select Mic-In, Line-In, USB-In, or whatever is originating your show. Do not select Mix-Out, WAV-Out, Stereo-Mix or What-U-Hear.
You can select Append Record and the new recording will jam itself at the end of the old one. You can do that on one track.

You can use the Time Shift Tool (two sideways black arrows) to push a track sooner and later. You can also drag-select, Copy and Paste. Koz
