Track won't play back when i press record

When i press record the track i am trying to listen to while i record becomes muted. I’ve tried re installing several times and the same issue stays the same
Any idea why when i press record the above track doesn’t play at all? When i press play the track playsback but when i record the track remains silent.

Overdubbing?

Edit > Preferences > Recording [X] Overdub (select).
Edit > Preferences > Recording [_] Playthrough (de-select).

Make sure you’re recording from your actual hardware microphone or other sound device, not Stereo-Mix, What-U-Hear, WASAPI, or any other software service. If you like recording from YouTube, those are the wrong settings for overdubbing.
