I am using Windows 7 and Audacity 2.1.3.

I record large files from cassettes. In editing I create 3 seconds of silence between each “song”. All I want to do is to cut the long track into separate tracks at the 3 second breaks but do not want to label each track. How do I do that simple operation?

This is one tutorial on splitting, but they did it with label markers. There’s a way to do it with Silent Sense…

Edit > Clip Boundaries > Detach at Silences ??
