Okay
I am a Newbie who is barely computer illiterate. I have windows 10 and Audacity 2.1. All I want to do is listen to/record my albums digitally on my computer using Audacity.
Things were going fine until I somehow did something to enable Quick play and Audacity will no longer record. Period. The timeline thing flashes but nothing records.
I can’t find anything in the manual that helps. I’m sure that the answer is probably there. I just don’t know where to look.
Thanks to anyone who may be able to help. It will be nice to get listening again.
Audacity version numbers have 3 parts. Look in “Help > About Audacity” to find the full version number.
In Audacity 2.1.2 (the current version). “Quick Play” is activated by clicking on the “Time Line” (the horizontal time ruler).
See here for more information about the TimeLine and Quick Play: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/timeline.html
Why? What happens? What are you doing? (we can’t see your computer or what you are doing)/
Perhaps also worth noting that most operations are disabled while playback is “active” (playing, recording or paused). Click the “Stop” button to stop playback.
Timeline Quickplay and scrubbing both inhibit recording (as indeed does simple Play)
Just press the Stop button, than all should be well.
