Time Toolbar: more options

Using 2.4.1, I still have the Selection toolbar visible, even thought it’s huge and has the Project Rate which I don’t think belongs there and I have accidentally set when the focus was set to it after some processing.

The Time toolbar is great since it’s small (it fits on a single dock row) and also resizable.

What I am missing though are more displays:

  • total time of the file or of the selected track
  • start/end/length of the selected section

These could be separate, small toolbars, or added to the Time toolbar. Being able to switch these sections on or off would be great, to make it more useful for different kinds of users.

For me it’s enough to have just a display, I never use these to set a value. The new Time toolbar suggest you can edit the value because it shows focus but it’s actually readonly. Being unable to select a value would make it a bit more clear.

The Time Toolbar can be made small or large (or even very large if you undock it and float it).

The easiest way to see total time of a track or project is to reset your Selection toolbar to Start and Length of Selection then just select the track or the project.

Alternatively Shift+K will take you to a track end or the Skip to End button in the Transport toolbar will take you to the project end - and then you can read the time off from the Time toolbar.
