There is an error in the Audacity Manual

I’m aware of that, but the macro is also likely to fail, even when updated with “legacy limiter”, if the project has real-time effects.

So it’s time to quietly pack up my programming experience and fade into the sunset?

The guide just needs one more step at the start:

  1. Select All, then Mix & Render
  2. <original steps>

Writing that down.

Partly because of this notification…

Your browser will soon be incompatible with this community.

…I will be bringing a new computer(s) on-line. If the gap between the new machines and the current ones is long enough, this process can be amusing and entertaining.

Is that the actual text for inclusion in the Macro?

Since I’m also writing the “manual,” does this affect the ability of the macro to run more than once?

What’s a good name for the new macro? I’m not a fan of needing to dig into the text to sort which revision I’m using. 37Audiobook-Mastering-Macro?

What???

You could probably add Macro commands to do that, but I just meant that Rendering the project will cause any real-time effects to be applied (rendered), before attempting to set the required peak / rms / noise floor levels.

I’m not joshing. I have two Macs of a similar age and they both feature the same warning. As near as I can tell, it’s triggered by the Intel hardware.

I have the replacement machines. It’s just a matter of configuring them.

This is the Official Excuse. Really, one of the daily cartoon suppliers crashed.

The cartoons all work fine on the new machines.

Found it: Dropping iOS 15 & other old browsers in July 2025 - Announcements - Discourse Meta

“Discourse” is the forum software (previously “phpBB”, but migrated to Discourse by muse group, hence the high number of broken links).

Discourse’s minimum supported iOS version will be updated from 15.7 to 16.7. After that, visitors using older versions of iOS will be shown a basic-html version of community content, and won’t be able to login or interact with the site.

This change will also affect older versions of other browsers. The minimum Firefox version with support for these features is v128 (July 2024), and the minimum Chrome(ium) version is v119 (Oct 2023).
