The delay between pressing the Play (Space) button and the sound starting to play.

Hello,
when i press the “play” button (or the spacebar which is the keyboard shortcut for playing sound) it always takes about 3 seconds (sometimes longer) before the sound actually starts playing.
What could it be?

This happens to me if I set my buffer size to 3000ms (=3 seconds):

Edit > Preferences > Audio Setup
