Have you tried restarting your computer and trashing your audacity preferences file?

It needed more than that. The recent Forum failure was due to the cache getting too large (now cleared it out) and also the large size of the banning list which was just timing out (we’ve now applied this patch to the Forum Software).

I’d like to see a spam text filter in place (so spammers just waste their time registering and trying to post and we don’t have to spend time banning them). However it seems there is no suitable modification for the current phpBB software, and it’s not easy to plug modifications in to it. We might migrate to other software that is easier to customise, but no news on that yet.

We have not done anything for the older Forum problem of occasional non-response and Internal Server Errors, so they are likely to still be evident unless we take a decision to spend more and move to a dedicated server.

From the time the forum came back up with the new settings, it’s been on a three to five second response time except one night where I think the whole server went down for a couple of hours. So this is perfectly workable.

OK - the cache clearance and patch may help, but don’t cure the underlying problem of running on a shared server (and I got an Internal Server Error posting the message above yours). I’m sure you’ll let me know if it starts deteriorating again.
