Tempo effect widget lacking?

Hi,

I use audacity for quite some time and with the new module I have a weird but simple problem: I don’t have the change tempo effect option. In the older version you could change tempo of a song through BPM at the “pitch and tempo” module. I still have that module but changing tempo is simply not there… Which means I can’t change songs simply through BPM. I don’t know if this is a personal settings thing or simply a new feature but I can’t really find the hang of it and don’t have simple ways of changing BPM of tracks. Anybody have a similar probling or know how to help me somehow?

Thanks in advance!

I have the change tempo effect in my web port of Audacity 4:

You can do this now in Audacity 4. Click in a clip then click the “…” at the right end of the clip handle. Select “Open pitch and speed dialog”.

The speed change does what the change tempo effect did in AU3 - change the duration without changing the pitch. But it is now non-destructive.

120 to 134 BPM is 134 / 120 = 111.667%. The clip will be shorter but the tempo will have increased and the pitch will remain the same.

Where is that? I have never used any web version only the downloadable app, where do I find that? In picture you can see what my effect menu looks like. Its in Dutch but as you can see there is no “change tempo” or anyhting, toonhoogte means pitch.

Thanks billw58, I have seen that feature but isn’t it way less practical that you have to do calculations instead of you just typing in your current and desired tempo? I would seem weird to me that Audacity would complicate a simple effect no so that’s why I was in doubt…

Agreed. I was just offering a work-around until Muse implements the Change Tempo functionality.
