Audacity is a great program! I am having trouble while recording cassette tapes and converting to mp3s. All songs seem to fade-in and I don’t know how to correct this. It does it even if the song starts abruptly. Can anyone help?
Check that it’s not your media player fading in rather than a problem with your recordings.
I believe it may be. I am using windows media player 11. Any suggestions?
Try the excellent freeware media player Foobar2000 - http://www.foobar2000.org/
It will play almost any audio file format, isn’t a resource hog, doesn’t act as an internet billboard for stuff you’re not the slightest bit interested in and isn’t stuffed with tiresome eye candy. It plays and rips CDs and has a ton of other useful features - a great companion to Audacity
It looks rubbish, well minimalist anyway, and not as bad now as earlier versions, but don’t be put off by that. it’s a brilliant audio player and does what an audio player should - it plays audio files - just about any audio format apart from the horrible “real audio”. If you need to play “real audio” you can use Media Player Classic (with “Real Alternative”), or Jet Audio.
