Tape Deck to Imac-No Sound From the Computer

I cannot get my imac to play the sound from my tape deck. Audacity records from the tape deck with no problems, but I would like to hear the tape as it is being recorded. I am using the operating system 10.7.3.

Click on Transport menu > Software Playthrough (to make it checked).

Thanks, that did work. I would also like to be able to hear the tape deck before I start recording. Is there any kind of patch that would allow the tape to be heard before I started recording?

Click on the Recording meter to activate it.
Alternatively click on Pause, then Record (click “Pause” again to start the recording)
