After I have saved the song. (export). And I go to my files to find it. I click on “Properties” then click on "details. In that tab is “protected - No”. How do I save this song as “protected - Yes”? I have also noticed when I do save the song “export” and I put in all the information for the properties, the description never is complete. I have to manually put it in after saving. Going to the file where I store the song. Pull up the properties menue and re-install the information. I write poems and in the description I always put the poem for that song in the description. Cut and Paste. But I can’t do it in Audacity.
Thanks,
Phil

That’s for copy protection (DRM). Do you want to copy protect your song??? Here is some information about Microsoft DRM. You need some sort of license from Microsoft. I don’t know if there’s a fee, but it looks pretty complicated…
And, it’s not really “copy” protection… You can always copy a file… it’s a matter of preventing the person with the (unauthorized) copy from de-scrambling & playing the file.

You didn’t say what format your files are or what format your tags are… There are special-purpose tag editors such as MP3Tag that probably handle more formats & options than Audacity. (MP3 tag works with many formats besides MP3/ID3.)
There are many different “standards” for metadata, depending on the file format and which program you are using to view the data (Microsoft, Apple, WinAmp and just about everyone else disagree about what the standards should be). Audacity attempts to take a compromise position by supporting the most common features for most formats. You can read an overview of the Metadata support in Audacity here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Metadata_Editor
If you rely on specific types of metadata then the best option is probably to use the tagging feature of the program that you will be using for playing the exported files (you can still use the Audacity Metadata Editor to supply the basic information such as track Title and Artist).
