Hi. I’m trying to edit my signature so to advertise my system info. I don’t see that we even have sigs, probably to keep the clutter down. Even so, can the adms give sigs specifically for system info, please? That would be a lot easier than having to go look up the info and supply it for every question.

Your details say Windows 7. Is that no longer the case?
In most cases it is sufficient to just say that you are using Mint 19.
The forum software does not allow me to enable your signature without enabling it for everyone, which I don’t want to do because of all the trouble it caused when we previously allowed signatures.
OK. I understand. You might recall that I had problems with malware. Now it has returned. I don’t want Windows 10 because of that big search & privacy fiasco back in January. I’ve gone over to Linux and am using this weekend to get all my programs reinstalled there. Nice thing was that I had 2.3.3 or better over there. I’d like to get the newest version available for Linux.

I’d suggest that for now, you stick with whatever deb version is available through your package manager. Use this time to familiarise yourself with your new operating system, especially how to use the system audio mixer / volume control. Linux provides a lot of control over audio.
Audacity 2.4.0 is due to be released very soon, and I’ll be writing detailed instructions for how to build and install that version from the source code. If you can follow step by step instructions accurately, it will be easy (easier than previous versions of Audacity).
That 2.2.1 is a real hassle when you are used to using 2.3.3. How soon will the 2.4 come out?
A new release candidate is coming out today. If no serious problems appear, that’ll put the release date at around 21st.
