Trying to edit a Supernote app aiff file from my Ipad on my windows laptop using audacity. Downloads the file no problem but when you play it is just white noise, what am I doing wrong?
Same file plays on Itunes and VLC media player no problem
AIFF is a container format so it can contain various audio codecs. Most likely Supernote uses a lossy codec for small file size and puts that in the AIFF file.
Try installing FFmpeg then see if Audacity will import the file.
If that does not help, download “MediaInfo” from http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en/Download/Windows . Get the version without installer, because the installer may have malware or adware. Post the information from MediaInfo about the file in your reply.

Since it plays in VLC, installing FFMPEG has a good chance of working.
Do you have an application on your iPad that you could use to convert to a different format?
I think you can also use VLC to convert to a different format. Or, you can try TAudioConverter.
I recommending converting to to WAV, or you can probably convert it to a “regular” uncompressed AIFF.
Converting the file to a WAV did the trick, thanks!
