Hi - The info is:
Audacity 2.0.5
Windows 7, 64 bit
Obtained via .exe installer
Have used Audacity to digitize LPs with no issues
Have been trying to digitize using the above capture device. In following the instructions in the Audacity manual titled “Set Up Audacity to record from the USB audio device” I have set up Audacity following the screen shots. The only difference is that "Microphone (USB Audio CODEC) shows on mine as “Microphone Array…”
The next section, in a light green box, Operating System Specifics, it instructs to right click over the speaker icon. My task bar doesn’t show a speaker icon (nor is one located in the hidden icon section). I am able to locate the device in “Devices and Printers” and have verified that the cassette device is set to “2 channel 16 bit 44100Hz”. All that being said, I insert an operational cassette in the device turn it on and turn on monitoring, all that results is a loud high pitched whistle/buzzing/growling sound. The same occurs without monitoring when record is activated.
The device is in a direct usb slot (not a hub) and into the speaker jack on the device and the microphone jack on the computer. When I unplug the microphone jack and monitor, it just makes the typical soft buzzing sound.
I have tried using it on two different computers and have used a new jack.
When I use the device on other audio systems (aux on car stereo and regular stereo) it functions just fine and the sound comes through.
I believe that I am doing something incorrectly or need to set up something different.
I have not been able to find any info in the existing forum pages (that doesn’t mean it’s not there, just that I can’t find it). Also, I haven’t changed any of the preferences
Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated
