Stuck on "Export to MP3"

I have an MP3 folder in Windopws 10 Music. Music is recorded on Audacity as normal. I then File/Export/ Export as MP3, but nothing happens. None of the “Export as” options are active. How can I get over this brick wall and effectively export the music to my MP3 folder?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Petercorner.

Do you mean that the options are greyed out?
Which version of Audacity are you using? (look in “Help menu > About Audacity”)

Hi Steve,
I’m using the latest version of Audacity uploaded today. The “Export to” options are not greyed; they’re unchanged in appearance.
Petercorner

There are numerous versions of Audacity available on line. The “latest” version is “Audacity 2.3.3 rc02”, which is for testing purposes only.
Which version have you got?

What exactly do you mean “not active”?

We have to visualize what you’re doing from your description. Talk about the step-by-step of creating your work and how you’re making the MP3.

Earlier versions of Audacity made you install extra software to make an MP3 file. Newer ones don’t. Did you get Audacity from here?

I’m using version 2.3.2. When I click on Export to MP3 nothing happens; no response. I click without results.

I presume you mean “File menu > Export > Export as MP3…”?

What happens if you click on:
“File menu > Export > Export Audio…”

Your presumption is correct. Nothing happens when I click on Export to audio, the same on all export to options.Appreciating your help, is this making any sense?

None whatsoever. I’ve no idea how or why nothing is happening, I’ve not seen anyone else with this problem, and I can’t reproduce it myself.
If you think of any detail that you’ve not yet told us, do let us know and we may be able to be more help.

I’ve done it! Out of a sense of pure frustration I started pressing buttons and to my horrow realised that I had pressed the pause button (and not the stop button) on Audacity. Once I “stopped” it exported to MP3 and I was able to complete the process to record to CD. My thanks to you all for your support. I guess we’ve all learned something. Regards Petercorner.

Oddly I can’t reproduce this on my W10 laptop with either 2.3.2 or the RC03 latest release Candidate for the upcoming 2.3.3

  1. record track
  2. pause
  3. Export as Mp3
  4. observe MP3 file is exported

Are you absolutely sure that you are using Audacity 2.3.2?

Stopping was required on some older versions of Audacity, but I can’t reproduce that in Audacity 2.3.2.
